NYFW: Rebecca Taylor

Images: Style.com

Rebecca Taylor has long been a fashion favourite of mine, and her new Fall 2012 collection did not disappoint. In fact quite the contrary, I am in love with everything. Herringbone coats, peplum blouses and floaty dresses, oh my! I have never wanted to skip through summer before in my life, but do I really have to wait six months to get my hands on all of this gorgeousness?

Have a great weekend!

NYFW: Richard Chai - Love

Richard Chai - Love gets my vote for the best of day one of NYFW Fall 2012. Urban silhouettes have been given a countrified edge making for an appealing and totally wearable collection. Masculine pieces, like the boyfriend blazer, have been softened with floral prints or are paired with voluminous pants and floaty chiffon. The muted colours of grey and black give the collection its urban appeal. There are definitely a few pieces that will be on my wish list come next fall, especially some of the gorgeous outerwear.

IFB Conference

Yesterday I went to the IFB Conference at Milk Studio's in New York. I still consider myself a newbie at the blogging game, so thought I would take advantage of this fabulous event to hear from women and men who are killing it in the blogosphere. I am not hoping to be the next big blogger but I do have big dreams for my emerging business plans, and loved hearing about how my blog can help me build my brand and it's identity. Lets just say, I am very excited about the future.

There were so many stylish and fabulous people at the conference. I am so inspired about new ways to work my wardrobe based on what the other girls were wearing. As for what I wore: a charcoal blazer, blush-coloured blouse and red jeans. I have to admit that when I heard it might snow if the afternoon, I reached for the ankle boots instead of the pumps pictured above. I mean, fashion is important to me, but not enough to get frostbitten toes. Also, I am so excited that I was twice asked to be photographed in my red jeans. It's dorky to admit but it gave be such a thrill! I hope their shots were better than the trial shot I took of my outfit the night before.

Update: you can see more (and better) images of my outfit here, here and here!

Mirror, Mirror On The Wall

Images: Pinterest

Living in a small apartment (or even for a small room) there is one essential item that can give the appearance of more space... a mirror. Not only are they functional, but choose the right mirror and it can make a statement as well. I am keeping my eye out for a round mirror like the top one. Which one would you choose?

Bed Head

Images: 1, 2, 3 - Pinterest / 4 - Little Green Notebook

Lately I have found myself wanting to add a headboard to our bed. After a disaster trying to replace our ensemble base with a timber bed frame (we spent a whole day putting the frame together only to discover it was a foot longer than our mattress and we had to take it apart again), I am prepared to live with our current bed but something is missing. I think that something is a decorative headboard.

After seeing the bottom image (and subsequent DIY instructions) on the Little Green Notebook, I am now even more determined than ever to add this missing something to our bedroom. The only problem now is deciding which way to go. A neutral headboard that can be played up with cushions and linen, or a stand-out headboard with more muted bedding? Decisions, decisions. Which way would you go?

Embracing My Roots

Image: Pinterest

I have hair that grows ridiculously fast. "What are you complaining about?", I hear you ask. Well, I am going broke getting my hair highlighted as often as I need to, and have decided that enough is enough. I am going to embrace the fact that my hair, that may have been naturally blonde when I was five, is no longer naturally blonde. So I am going back to my roots, literally. Well a better version of my roots actually. The above image (and others on my Pinterest page) are some of the ladies I have been looking to for inspiration.

The appointment is set, so wish me luck!
