Grey Matter

On my regular trawl through ELLE Decor I came across Monique Lhuillier's home. I have always loved her dresses so it was no surprise that I loved her home too. I like the way that she has elegantly blended all shades of grey with the freshness of white. The subtle silvery shades keep the home cool and calm, whilst still being incredibly cosy and inviting.

Weekend in Pictures

There was quite a contrast between the weather on Saturday and Sunday this weekend. I forgot to carry around my camera so I documented my weekend using my the ToyCam feature on my Android operated phone. I am pleased with the results.

Saturday we took the train an hour out of the city to go to Long Beach with a friend of ours and her family. It was so nice and relaxing lying on the sand getting some sun. I went for one swim but it was pretty cold so I didn't stay in long.

Then on Sunday we woke up to pouring rain. It rained steadily for most of the day. We didn't want to stay inside all day so we walked around in the rain. We made our way to Washington Square Park, as we still hadn't seen the newly opened end, and we walked around looking at all the funny squirrels - the rain must be to a squirrel what the full moon is to crazy person. They were very amusing.

All in all it was a great weekend. Here are some of the pics I captured...

How was your weekend?

Spotted

There once was a time not all that long ago when I despised animal print. I never understood the widespread appeal that it seemed to have. Then I found a pair of pony hair ballet flats on a work trip a couple of years ago, and I had to have them. I couldn't explain it, I had previously stated that I would never wear animal print - especially leopard - and here I was buying a pair of pony hair flats, in leopard.

Then, last year I purchased a sweater that featured a grey and pink leopard print. It is one of my favourites when the temperature drops, I wear it often. I also purchased a leather jacket because I liked the leopard lining poking out under the cuffs. And I still wear my flats. And now, I find myself wanting many different items in leopard for fall...

I guess the moral of the story is never say never.

Forward Planning

I was in J.Crew this past weekend and I am in love with their new Fall Collection. I love all the jewel tones and luxurious knits. It is a little hot to even think about buying most of it yet, however I am enjoying thinking about how I will dress this autumn.

I am a summer girl through and through, so I can't believe that I am looking forward to seeing the first signs of autumn with the falling leaves. I am also looking forward to not being a sweaty mess everyday and it will be nice when the evenings start to cool enough that I will need to throw on a light sweater. What has happened to me!

This is what I am thinking my Fall Uniform will look like...

Serenity Now

A week or so ago, I was looking at Design Sponge and fell in love with this gorgeous home. I love everything about it from the simple colour palette, mixed textures and eye-catching knick-knacks.

I just love this home. They have made the best use of a small space and it instead looks open and inviting. This is something I can appreciate living in a tiny New York apartment.

Patch NYC

I came across this website over the weekend, when I was reading Refinery29. It has such a gorgeous mix of home decor,  accessories and other odds and ends. The store was started in 1997 by designers Don Carney and John Ross, with a collection of hand-detailed hats. Today, Patch NYC has evolved into collections of home decor and fashion accessories including costume jewelry, scarves and one-of-a kind jewellery. They even have their very own blog.

Here are some of the things that caught my eye trawling their website...

Paris Between the Wars 1919-1939; Art, Life & Culture

Owl Candle

Ikat Pillow Set

Scroll Top Earring

Pony Object

Vintage Glass Ovals Necklace

Classic Mixed Fabric Scarf

Its great for gifts, or to just treat yourself.
