Favourite Things

Here are a selection of my favourite things right now....

From top to bottom:

West Elm Allegra Hicks Wave pillow covers
I don't own these (yet) but they are such gorgeous cushion covers I am sure I can find room for them on our lounge.

Aldo Iveans Wedges
A new purchase (on sale), I cannot wait to take these babies for a walk.

Jewelmint Farrah Necklace
Another new purchase, I love gold chains and this one has a great 70's vibe.

Pedestal Tray Set
I love this tray set. I found it reading through my favourite blogs one day. It not only keeps my jewellery and perfume organised but is also looks lovely on my dresser.

New York House Numbers & Transit Guide Map
I purchased this map in Sydney and have it by the front door of our apartment in New York. It not only looks good but it is also functional when I am running our the door not sure which direction I am going in.

I love this rug, it is made out of fabric scraps. Up close you can see all the different prints and colours but from far away it just looks like multicoloured stripes. It was very affordable too (although I don't think they sell it any more).

YSL Parisienne Perfume
I bought this to wear on my wedding day. I have hidden it in the back of my closet so I don't use it and so far I have been pretty controlled. I have only broken and worn it once. Can't wait to make it a staple after the wedding.

Neutrogena Body Oil
A new find, I bought this body oil to try and combat my dry over-exposed summer skin. I am not going to lie, I love a tan but I need to make sure I look after my skin as it is quick to dry out when I have seen too much sun.

Queen's Wardrobe Lovely Wave Shorts
These shorts are my absolute favourite. I would wear them everyday if I could. They can be dressed up and dressed down and they go with almost everything in my closet. I love them.

Gifts for Guys

Guys can be really difficult to shop for and as it was Michael's birthday yesterday I had to put my thinking cap on. While I normally struggle to shop for him, this year I had some great ideas. I had listened to all the things he said he needed or wanted over the last few months and compiled a mental list of ideas.

Here are some of the things I came up with...

CLOTHING
J.Crew Seersucker Boardshorts / J.Crew Dress Shirt

ACCESSORIES
Frye "Weston" Driving Shoe / WANT Les Essentiels de la Vie "Heathrow" Messenger Bag

GADGETS
Dyson Air Multiplier / Tangent Duo AM/FM Clock Radio

ACTIVITIES
Tickets to see Woody Allen & The Eddy Davis New Orleans Jazz Band / Ultimate Helicopter Tour in Manhattan

This year I ended up going with the helicopter tour and the clock radio. They were both a success, glad I was listening and making mental notes!

Bits of My Weekend

We had such a great weekend in Boston, I love that city.We had a great time with our friends too. Eating, drinking, sightseeing and baseball watching. The highlight was the day we spent in Newport, Rhode Island walking along the piers, having seafood for lunch, looking at mansions and getting to have a quick swim in the ocean before getting on the train to come back to New York.

Here are some pictures from our weekend...

How was your weekend?

Friday Already?

We have made it to Friday yet again. With a short week it has come around very quickly and I wasn't very productive at all. Not that I am complaining, we were lucky enough to be away in beautiful Costa Rica.

This weekend we are heading to Boston to catch up with some good friends from Australia who have recently moved there. I can't wait, not only to see our friends but also because I love Boston. We went there around this time last year and it is such a great place. There is so much history and I love the architecture of the buildings. While still a busy city it is much quieter than New York and sometimes you just need a break from the hustle and bustle.

That being said, this will be our third weekend in a row out of the city. I am really looking forward to staying local next week. Being in New York in summer is one of my favourite things. Sure its hot and sweaty, the city kind of stinks, and there is no respite from the searing sun. But, there is still something wonderful about walking around with your iced coffee, the cold condensation drippng down your arms, stopping in shady patches to get a break from the sun, people enjoying eating and drinking outside, parks full of sunbathers, fresh fruit stands, kids in fountains. I really do love living in New York.

Enjoy your weekend!

The Dream is Over

Well today it's time to face reality - the holiday in Costa Rica has come to an end. Both Michael and I had the best time, we really didn't want to come home. We stayed at the Hotel Punta Islita in the Nicoya area of Guanacaste, and I can not recommend it highly enough (thanks to Yvonne for recommending it to us). The setting, the rooms, the amazing staff, I loved every single minute.

While the trip started on shaky ground (Delta staff with attitude and arriving in Costa Rica when our luggage still hadn't left Atlanta) it certainly got better. We booked a deluxe room yet we were upgraded and had our own private terrace complete with a spa. That made up for the day we spent in the same clothes we arrived in and in bathing suits purchased from the hotel gift shop (I will spare you those photo's, my bather bottoms were a little cheeky - literally - for my liking and Michael looked like a twelve year old in his. We were quite the pair).

The resort was very quiet given that they are in the middle of their wet season, but apart from some rain in the middle of the night and a very light shower while we were zip-lining, it didn't seem very wet to us. We spent our days moving from the beach to the pool and back again. Drinking beer and cocktails, and eating delicious seafood. We worked that off climbing up and down the hill to our room and walking around the point at low tide.

It was such a great trip. Here are some of my favourite photos...

Ah the memories, now if only I didn't have to come back to reality.

Celebration!

Today I have three reasons to celebrate. Not only is it Independence Day in the US, we are still on holiday in Costa Rica, AND this is my 50TH POST!

I have really loved writing this blog, sharing my thoughts, experiences and opinions, and having a creative outlet. If you enjoy reading, please follow me through Google (click the link on the right) and on Bloglovin'.

Now time to start celebrating!

Thanks again for reading!

Costa Rica Friday

It's Friday again! Are you sensing that I really like Friday's? That beautiful day that kick-starts the weekend. Two days of catching up with friends, eating good food, drinking good wine, exploring new places and going wherever my mood takes me.

Today is an especially great Friday. To celebrate the July 4th long weekend, Michael and I are off to Costa Rica for a last minute trip (all our trips seem to happen this way - it's not good for the wallet - we really must learn to plan).

I can not wait to swim here...
